PROJECT overview
“Metamorphosis” by Ragil Dwi Putra draws from the history of limestone extraction used in building the Yogyakarta Sultanate Fortress (Benteng Keraton), this work presents a fortress diorama submerged in vinegar that slowly grows crystals over time.
This chemical reaction serves as a symbol of recovery for the exploited karst landscape—an effort by the limestone to “rewrite” its own history. The work invites the audience to view natural materials not merely as construction elements, but as a living landscape that records the traces of human interaction, power, and nature
